You may have seen a friendly new face here at the salon, adding a touch of glamour to the hair team, that’s right, this week we’re welcoming a new member of the team to the salon and to the blog. But as always, she’s not just ‘another hairdresser’ – we only work with the best and Catalina is no exception, she boasts the title of ‘Loreal Master Colourist’ to her name and this week she’s our guest on the blog telling us all about what that is and why you should be booking in with her asap.

Hey Catalina, welcome to the blog! This week we’d love to ask you some questions…

Firstly, tell us, what is a Master Colourist?

Becoming a colour degree graduate certifies you as a L’Oréal Professional Master Colourist, which is the most advanced technical level of education. It is a 15-day intensive course at the L’Oréal academy in Hammersmith, finished up with a final examination.

And how did you go about becoming one?

Prior to beginning the course, you must have a higher level of experience with colour and completed various L’Oréal colour courses. You will then complete a series of case studies to ensure you are at the correct level to participate in the course.

What made you want to be a L’Oréal Professional Master Colourist?

Our industry is forever growing. Colour is a big passion of mine – in my opinion, you can never gain enough knowledge and education on the subject. I knew I wanted to further my skills in understanding more about the effects of natural colour pigments on the hair along with the science & chemistry of the hair and skin.

How can The Colour Palette customer benefit from having their hair done by a Master colourist?

Everybody’s colour journey is different, having the knowledge from being a Master Colourist we can go in-depth to bespoke the colour to you, working with your natural pigmentation and skin tone to get you a custom colour, made just for you.

Catalina’s top tips

The Colour: Rich autumnal hair

“I love warm rich autumnal hair. Warm tones reflect the light-enhancing much more shine.”

Celebrity style: Alexa Chung

“I have always loved Alexa Chung, she is the perfect example of what I love to do, Textured looks. The little tweaks she changes in her fringe and between lengths of her hair down to the styling keeps her hair always looking current and on-trend.”

Runway picks: Dion lee, Celine, Fendi and Saint Lauren

And there you have it, Catalina everyone. She’s a welcome member of the team and we can’t wait to see what looks she creates in the salon. Looking for some colour expertise? All of her services are 40% off for new customers for the duration of October, so there’s never been a better time to book.
